In many instances, a referral is not required. However, if you live in the following states, you do need to be referred by a healthcare provider to receive nutrition counseling from a registered dietitian: AR, CA, NE.

If you are planning to use insurance to cover medical nutrition therapy, some insurances may require a physician referral for coverage. Contact your insurance carrier for more information about your plan.

In-person appointments are currently only available for the greater Nashville area at Westhaven Village in Franklin, TN (411 Whitman Rd., Franklin, TN 37064) and at White House, TN (510 Highway 76 East, White House, TN).

Initial appointment: 45–60 minutes

Today, the out-of-pocket cost of an appointment is as follows:

Initial visit: $99

Follow-up visit: $59

For appointments where medical nutrition therapy is provided, our Kroger Health registered dietitians now accept United Healthcare, Ambetter, Anthem, and CIGNA insurance for nutrition counseling in select states and for certain employer groups.

We'll work directly with you and your provider to verify your coverage for nutrition counseling appointments. Our goal is to help you focus on your health while keeping your out-of-pocket costs as low as possible!

Medical nutrition therapy may not be covered by your specific plan. Please contact your insurance carrier prior to your visit for assistance with verifying coverage, co-pay responsibility and that your insurance plan is participating with the Kroger Co.

Many find their nutrition goals are best supported by working with their registered dietitians over three to six appointments. This gives time to implement in real life what is learned in an appointment and add in new nutrition skills when ready.
